Let’s face it, the most difficult thing when it comes to physical fitness is staying consistent. I am sure everyone in the world knows healthy things to do that would benefit themselves, and I am even sure some make a conscious effort to do them at times. But, the key to seeing results is remaining consistent with those things and turning them into habits. Easier said than done, but the secret is setting yourself up for success as much as possible. That comes with preparation; let me tell you how it’s done.
Preparation is key when it comes to taking on some of the more difficult things you have on your to-do list. It is a similar idea to a tough work meeting… you would never hop in blind and just hope for the best. You do research, write what you want to say down, sometimes even practice talking to yourself. This is what preparation looks like. Now, let ‘s take this idea of preparation to physical fitness. Preparing for physical fitness is something that can look different to every individual. Let me tell you what it looks like for me. I make it a priority to meal prep my lunches and dinners every week on Sunday, I make my breakfast smoothie the night before every week day morning, I lay out my gym clothes and pack up all the supplements that I will need, and I lay out the clothes that will wear the next day. Are there times that this is difficult? Absolutely, but getting these things over with set up for a great day to power through a great workout, and eat healthy food that is prepared by yourself.
My advice would be to find the things that you dread doing during your daily routine, and do what you can to get a head start on them. For example, I know that cooking during the week can be very difficult. That is why I am cheffing it up like a mad man on Sundays so I can be setup with food for a whole week. If I didn’t do that I know I would end up eating fast food all week, which is not what I want to be doing.
Is preparation something that you practice? Or are you a procrastinator? Hate to admit it but I can definitely be both… Let me know in the comments below!
