Full disclosure, I absolutely hate taking pictures of myself. Being photogenic is not my strong-suit as is, so mixing in my shyness and want to avoid attention is a tough mix. However, it is something that I am working on. Getting out of your comfort zone is super important for personal growth and this is one of the things that I am challenging myself to do. So, let’s start with progress pictures. Progress pictures are a great way to track where you started vs. where you are at now. This is something I wish I was better with back when I started lifting in 2015 because my 2015 to 2023 transformation would have been pretty eye opening. But hindsight is 20/20, so let’s start now.
There are a lot of different approaches/strategies when it comes to taking progress pictures. Some people like to flex, some don’t. Some people like to do mirror selfies and some like to have others take the pictures for them. I believe that you can’t really go wrong when it comes to taking your pictures, the biggest thing to keep in mind mind is consistency. Keep in mind, we are taking these pictures so that we can compare them to other pictures down the road, so keeping them as similar as possible will really help you focus on the important thing, the changes in your body.
Now, let me give you an example. Here are the progress pictures that I took today. This is me at 6 feet 4 inches tall and 205 pounds. It is crazy to think that 1 year and 3 months ago I had just wrapped up my recovery of a broken leg and had lost 25 pounds (Weighed 175 pounds) throughout my healing. I am proud of how far I have come since then but there is still work to be done. My goal is to get up to 215 pounds before summer, so buckle up! It is going to be a fun spring.
