Growing up primarily a carnivore, hitting my protein goal has not been much of an issue for me. From a very young age I have always had a diet high in meat. Obviously would have loved to mix in a few more fruits and veggies in hind sight, but with the high protein diet and being very active I have always been able to stay lean. I say all this because I do classify myself as a Protein Expert, and my opinion should be trusted when I tell you the best protein source. Drumroll please…
Salmon

Salmon is my favorite protein source for a variety of reasons. Outside of the taste, there are a number of benefits. Let’s take a look:
High Protein-
Salmon can contain between 22-25 grams of protein per 100 gram serving.
Rich in Omega-3s-
According to Healthline, salmon is rich in both EPA and DHA which both have great benefits including:
- decreasing inflammation
- lowering blood pressure and risk of cardiovascular disease
- supporting cognitive function and neurological development
Very Versatile-
There are so many ways to prepare salmon including baking, air frying, sautéing, smoking or grilling. You can even eat it raw if its sushi grade! My favorite is definitely air frying, try this recipe for the best salmon you will have!
Get out and try it!
With all these health benefits and a glowing review from the Protein Expert I know you are on the way to the store as we speak to pick some salmon up. Tell me your favorite way to cook salmon in the comments below!
