I am the founder, Chase Sahlin and I created this page with the sole intention of helping athletes/former athletes build their body the way they want it. There are a few things that athletes of all ages have in common. That is a good work ethic, competitive attitude and a drive to be better. I am just like you, I understand these qualities and know how to use these qualities to get you the results you are looking for. On this page I will be posting some of the things that will help you bring out the best in yourself. Under the Workout Tips tab you can expect to find things like workout videos, motivation, useful equipment, and many other things. Under the Nutrition Tips tab you can find healthy recipes, supplement suggestions, go-to food for before/after the gym etc. I also want to hear from you so I know how to provide you with the most useful and entertaining content! About Me: While growing up in Auburn, Washington there wasn’t always a lot to do so I mainly spent my time playing sports with my friends. We would play as many sports as we could, it never really mattered what we were playing as long as there was some sort of competition. We would have pickle ball tournaments which involved a lot of cussing each other out and yelling. We would leave the court hating each other, but that’s competition. We knew that our friendship would continue, but there is only one winner in sports. This attitude continued for me throughout high school where I played baseball and basketball, but the day came when I would no longer play organized sports. Every athlete will have that day, it just came a lot quicker than I wanted it to. Why? Because I was skinny, slow and weak. I had a lot of talent I just wasn’t very athletic at that point in my life. Part of this is being a late bloomer, but the bigger part is working out and good nutrition. In modern day sports, it is very important to not only be skillful, but strong and athletic as well. I did not learn this lesson until my freshmen year of college when I all of a sudden had free time on my hands. I started going to the gym and went through times of struggling with intimidation, low work ethic, busy schedule, no appetite, low confidence and many more insecurities or difficulties. Instead of quitting, I embraced these and realized that everyone deals with these problems, but I went into the gym with the goal to gain muscle and I wasn’t going to let these problems stop me. My freshmen year I walked into the gym at 6’4 165 pounds. During this time, I not only learned a lot about not only myself, but also about what motivates me. After graduating, and almost 5 years later I am 6’4 205 pounds with 13% body fat. Am I happy with this? No. Thats the beauty of fitness, there is no such thing as perfect. There is always something to be working toward. I have had a lot of ups and downs throughout my working out/nutrition journey, and lots of lessons I have learned. The reason I started Build Your Body Fitness is to help those that are in the same boat as I am, wanting to improve themselves and are willing to put in the work. I will help you use your athletic experience as a tool to help you achieve your fitness goals.
