Am I Active?

For whatever reason, when people think of the word active they automatically think of the gym. Many don’t realize that being active involves so much more than how many workouts you get in per week. Activity can take on a lot of different faces. For example, some of my favorite active things to do in the world do not typically happen in the gym. As I have mentioned, I love to mix it up with as much variety as I can when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. Aside from food I guess, I am a very picky eater and I don’t think that is going to change unfortunately. Check out some of the ways to stay active by limiting your gym time!

Jogging- I would say that jogging and working out at gym are typically the 2 most popular ways to stay active for adults. Whether it is running a mile a day to training for a marathon, running is a great way to be active and work on your endurance.

Hiking- This has been something that I have picked up within the last 5 years or so. Honestly, it has become one of my favorite activities to do in my spare time. Nothing better than getting outside in great weather and enjoying gorgeous views.

Active jobs- There are many people who work very active jobs where they are constantly on their feet and may be lifting heavy objects consistently. This is a great way to get some exercise in every week day and you may not even realize it!

Sports- A lot of people like to do rec leagues with friends or even just random pickup games. I think this is a great idea to continue playing some of the sports you love and perfect for connecting with new and old friends.

Walking animals- Taking your dog on a walk can go both ways!

Walking to work- If you have a reasonable commute, why not avoid the traffic and expensive gas and get a good morning walk in to work?

You get the idea, there are so many more ways to live a healthy lifestyle than having to go to the gym 5 days per week. What are some of your favorite activities that keep you active? Let me know below!
